Having a passion for drawing is where all my ideas begin. Observational drawing is very important to me taking inspiration from the contrast between hard coat hangers and the soft textures of the clothes being hung. Inspiration is also taken from the fabric of the clothes I’m observing to produce interesting patterns which I then interpret in my work. When drawing I look for a good line quality with an illustrative feel which is then transferred to print.
Through printing I am able to explore an interest in colour, pattern and texture which is ultimately collaged together in paper and fabric to produce visually exciting pieces. This is then embroidered into to create depth. Confident colour is used within my pieces to extinguish my work from others.

My final degree show displayed a range of pleated skirts which were both hand and digitally printed. Other products such as purses and cushion covers were produced to show the versatility of the design.
